Coffee stagnates

On the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE) coffee futures stagnated at the end of the day. Robusta prices maintained confirmed to tight ranges throughout the session, trading just off thirty year lows.

January ended down $ 1 at $ 649 tonne, cocoa future were steady to marginally lower in thin trade. Spot December closed four pounds lower at 544 pounds a tonne, having spent most of the day unchanged, trading only 200 lots in afternoon activities.

Mobashar Ahmed, Chief Analyst of futuresdata.net, said turnover was stuck in recent days ahead of Monday's move to screen based trading from open outcry from all LIFFE's softs markets.

LIFFE subdued

LIFFE futures were subdued in Thursday's trade as activity stagnated with US traders absent from the market due to Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Robustas ended mixed, while cocoa closed steady to marginally lower.

The London Metal Exchange was also quiet with copper ending steady.
